Western Australian drivers... DOUBLE DEMERITS for Labour Day weekend begin midnight tonight 02/03/18 and run until Monday 05/03/18.

Double demerits apply to the following offences:

- Drink or drug driving
- Speeding
- Failing to wear a seat belt and child restraint
- Running a red light
- Illegal use of a mobile phone while driving

Also the new SLOMO law is in effect from midnight tonight:

This new law requires motorists to reduce speed to a maximum of 40km/h when passing incident response vehicles with flashing lights and, where possible and safe to do so, move to the next lane. This law applies when passing vehicles used by:

- WA Police Force
- St John Ambulance
- Department of Fire and Emergency Services
- Main Roads WA Incident Response Service
- Towing companies on site to salvage or tow vehicles.

Failure to abide by this law = $300 fine & 3 demerit points.
