MICRODIA was founded in 1991 in
San Jose, California, by a group of engineers from Texas
Instruments and IBM. MICRODIA's
renowned experience in ASIC and HDD development, has helped
it grow from strength to strength to become the world's
2nd largest Flash Memory Card (FMC) manufacturer with a
monthly production capacity of over 9 million cards. The
company initially focused on OEM manufacturing for world
famous brands such as SAMSUNG, NIKON, CANON, NTTDoCoMo,
SIEMENS, NOKIA, LEICA, MEMOREX, MAXELL and others. Today,
using its strength in R&D and speed to market with
the latest innovations, MICRODIA
promotes its own brand of flash memory products covering
the most popular formats. MICRODIA
also offers a high quality range of Bluetooth wireless
devices and portable multimedia players.
With the exponential growth in demand for higher reliability,
higher speed and higher capacity flash memory cards, MICRODIA developed
its unique and patented EPM Technology ™ (enhanced
processing management) to increase FMC read/write speeds.

in the flash memory industry.

MICRODIA was
one of the biggest magnetic data storage media manufacturers
in the world and was one of a few using air-flow burnishing
technology to deliver high quality 3.5" MFD to the
market.
MICRODIA was
the only company outside Japan to manufacture optical
data storage media (CD-R) with storage capacity up to 74mins/650MB.
MICRODIA was
the only company outside Japan to produce solid state
memory products using NAND flash and high speed controllers
with specially designed frame-kits to deliver rugged and
high speed compact flash memory cards.
MICRODIA was
one of the only two manufacturers in the world capable
of delivering 512MB MMC Cards and SD Cards, and was one
of the only few to launch the high speed Wi-Fi products
reaching 54Mbps networking speeds.
MICRODIA launched
the 1GB SD Card, 1GB MMC Card, mini SD Cards, RS-MMC,
Wi-Fi SD Cards, Wi-Fi products with 108Mbps, and Bluetooth
products that not only deliver Voice but also Audio.
MICRODIA launched
its AiroBlue G series headsets, which offer one of the
longest talk times (up to 14 hours) headsets in the industry.
MICRODIA launched read/write speeds of
up to 200x (30Mbps) for the MMC and launched the SD with
a capacity of up to 4GB.
MICRODIA developed
its proprietary EPM Technology TM and announced the world's
fastest read/write speed 300x (45Mbps). It was also the
first to market with 16.0 GB CompactFlash and 8.0GB SDHC
cards.
MICRODIA launched
the world's fastest and highest capacity CompactFlash
card, the 32.0 GB XTRA ELITE 300x CF. It was also the
first to market with the 16.0 GB SDHC card.
