SHOPPER TIPS
When looking for a rear view system be sure to compare “apples
with apples”.
• CCD cameras have a much better resolution than CMOS
cameras and operate better in low light situations.
• CMOS cameras should be used with larger, brighter
LCD screens
• Heavy-duty cameras should have die cast aluminum
housing that is vandal and damage resistant and fully waterproof
• Colour cameras provide better definition of the
subject in the cameras view
• Cameras with built-in LEDs perform much betwter
in low light situations than those without.
• TFT LCD colour screens give a clearer and brighter
picture than the cheaper STN and black and white CRT screens
• The higher the brightness rating of the screen,
the brighter the image in daylight
SAFETY TIPS FOR USING REARVIEW SYSTEMS
• When reversing, use your side mirrors as normal
and use the rearview monitor as you would a rear view mirror
on your vehicle, to watch for obstacles
• Mounting your camera high and centre will give you
the best view angle for reversing and monitoring objects
driving and safe parking practices.
• Rear View Systems are designed as a driver assist
device only and should not be used as a substitute for skilled
driving and safe parking practices.
• The driver while parking must still visually monitor
the area into which the vehicle is to be reversed.
• Keep reversing speeds under 5km per hour
• Camera images may be affected by the weather and
light conditions
• Always observe skilled driving and safe parking
practices.
