Which DVD for me?

All our DVD players have an auxiliary audio/video RCA input for games consoles, cameras, TV tuners etc. This is particularly handy if the screen only has 1 video source input.

The DVD-555r has a built in amplifier & AM/FM radio tuner. It can be used as a direct replacement for your original or aftermarket stereo as it plays CD's, DVD's, Radio, MP3 etc etc. You can mount it in the same location easily & not lose any features.

The DVD-8000 is din sized units & can be mounted in the dash where there is a spare pocket. They can also be remote mounted if required (in the boot, under a seat etc) They all have a slot drive like a car cd player, as opposed to tray type players. These are all stand alone players as they do not have a radio tuner built in.

All models except the DVD-555r come with a remote eye, are multi-region & play MP3/DVD/VCD/S-VCD & audio CD's etc.

Various formats such as DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW etc may play however as there are so many software, firmware, hardware & media combinations that it is almost impossible to guarantee. If you have specific requirements please contact us & we can test a format for you.

FM Modulators FAQ

An FM modulator converts RCA signals to a car radio signal for tuning in on your FM radio. The unit plugs in between the radio & aerial on your existing car radio & automatically switches on & off.

A suitable frequency can be selected for your area depending on the frequency of your local radio stations.

NOTE - most fm modulators are not auto-switching - our  NFM-8 8 channel modulators auto-switch.

We now stock a wireless FM modulator (p/n VFM-8T).

This means that it is not necessary to remove the original head unit to connect it up.

Set-up - there is a small hole in the body of most modulators which is used to match the signal input to your RCA source unit. Turn fully anti-clockwise then bring up very, very slightly. Keep the volume on the DVD low (2-3max) & control the volume from the car radio.

If you still have distortion you can insert a 150K Ohm resistor in-line of each of the positive (centre) wires of the RCA inputs. One is required for each channel. Our FM mods are designed for a wide range of products & proper set-up is sometimes required. You will find this most sensitive on CD audio.

My picture rolls in black and white!

The output of your source - DVD, TV Tuner, Games console etc must match the format for the screen/s. Set the source to PAL where possible, otherwise set your screen to NTSC as a last resort. The format for Australia is PAL however as long as they match the scrolling will stop.

Check your owners manual to set your DVD to default power up to PAL or NTSC as desired. We set them to default in Pal mode prior to shipping. Manual adjustment can be done via the P/N button on the remote on some models, otherwise the default mode can be set in the menu.

NHP-12/NHP-22 Headphones FAQ

We do a dual source headphone kit (NHP-22) which takes 2 x sources & is selectable from the headphone. Either headphone can listen to either of the 2 sources at the same time. They power off when the signal is gone & work up to 60m & are not "line of sight"

The NHP-12 is a cordless headphone kit that includes the following items;

2 x Cordless headphones - 2 x AA batteries required for each headphone.

1 x Sender Unit - powered by 12 volts.

1 x twin RCA to stereo 3.5mm lead adaptor - connects the RCA signal from your source.

Extra single headphones can be purchased (p/n NHP-11)

Our packs that have screens with built in senders do not include the sender.

If you lose 1 channel
check that the 3.5mm plug is inserted fully into the sender unit (older models only)

If you have interference
ensure a good 12v power supply & high quality RCA leads are used. Earth to a separate point on the chassis if required. Try running the RCA leads via an alternate path avoiding power wires & car computers.

Also remember to have good batteries. The range is up to 7 metres with strong batteries & will reduce as the batteries go lower in voltage.

Multi Screen Applications

When more than 1 screen is used from a single source you may need a multi video amplifier (p/n MVA-5)

This gives you 5 video outputs from a single source. Our packs that have multi-screens include an MVA-5.

For a more controlled application try the AVS-4003 which allows up to 3 screens from up to 4 sources individually selectable via remote control. IE child 1 watches DVD while child 2 watches TV, while nanna plays her PS2.

You can also "daisy chain" the AVS-4003 for more complex installations for up to 60 screens. Control is via a remote control remote eye which is supplied complete with remote control.
